Every four-wheel driver should carry a snatch strap in either a nylon or polyester. Nylon webbing stretches to store kinetic energy and ‘snatch’ bogged vehicles out of trouble smoothly and safely. When buying a snatch strap you should check the strap for a stated Minimum Breaking Strength (MBS). It is recommended that the vehicle’s gross mass (GVM), and that the strap be suited to the GVM of the lighter of the two vehicles used in the recovery process and don’t forget to use a cable damper with your straps to avoid rebound of the strap.
